Abstract

Razvoj implantoprotetike omogućio je brojne metode rješavanja djelomične i potpune
bezubosti. Svaki pacijent je poseban slučaj kojemu treba pristupiti individualno. Važno je
poznavati čimbenike koji mogu utjecati na ishod terapije specifično za tog pacijenta. Neki od
čimbenika ovise o terapeutu, neki o materijalu i vrsti implantata, suprastrukture i protetskog
rada, a neki o samome pacijentu. Čimbenici vezani uz pacijenta su dob, njegovo opće
zdravstveno stanje, razina održavanja oralne higijene i neke štetne navike poput pušenja. Ovaj
rad pruža pregled literature o čimbenicima koji utječu na uspjeh implantoprotetske terapije, s
posebnim naglaskom na utjecaj pacijentove dobi i izazova i mogućnosti u vezi s tom dobi na
ishod terapije.

Abstract (english)

The development of implant prosthetics has enabled numerous methods of resolving partial and
complete edentulousness. Each patient is a special case that needs to be approached
individually. It is important to know the factors that may influence the outcome of therapy
specifically for that patient. Some of the factors depend on the therapist, some on the material
and type of implant, the superstructure and prosthetic work, and some on the patients
themselves. Factors related to the patient are age, their general health, level of oral hygiene and
some harmful habits such as smoking. This paper provides a review of the literature on factors that influence the success of implant-prosthetic therapy, with special emphasis on the impact of
the patient's age, and the challenges and opportunities associated with that age, on the outcome
of therapy.
