Abstract

Oralno je zdravlje važan dio općeg zdravlja ljudskog organizma i ima veliki utjecaj na kvalitetu života. Zubni je karijes jedna od najraširenijih bolesti današnjice i pokazatelj je oralnog zdravlja. Oralna je higijena jedan od temeljnih faktora za zdravlje zubi i parodonta. Svrha istraživanja je ispitati oralno zdravlje stomatologa i usporediti ga s oralnim zdravljem opće populacije.
Istraživanje je provedeno putem on-line anketnog upitnika u formi Google Forms obrasca koji je distribuiran stomatolozima i ostalom dijelu opće populacije putem on-line društvenih mreža. Dobiveni rezultati statistički su obrađeni pomoću računalnog programa ''Microsoft Excel 2010'' i ''SPSS Statistics 22.0 for Windows''.
U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 1006 osoba, od kojih 556 osoba opće populacije i 450 stomatologa. Rezultati su pokazali da postoje statistički značajne razlike između dvije ispitivane skupine pri čemu stomatolozi imaju bolje oralno-higijenske navike i bolji oralno-zdravstveni status. Rezultati dokazuju da stomatolozi svoja znanja o očuvanju oralnog zdravlja, osim na svojim pacijentima, primjenjuju i na sebi samima.

Abstract (english)

Oral health is a key element of overall health as far as the human body is concerned, and has a great effect on the general quality of life. Cavities are one of today’s most common ailments, and are a sign of oral health. Oral hygiene is one of the key factors for teeth and periodontal health. The aim of this study is to examine the oral health of dentists and compare it with the general population.
An online survey based on the Google Forms method, distributed to dentists and the general public via social media, was used for collecting data. The given results were processed via Microsoft Excel 2010 and SPSS Statistics 22.0 for Windows.
There were 1006 people participated in this survey, of which 556 belonged to the general population and 450 of them were dentists,. The results showed that statistically speaking there was a major gap between the two groups in which dentists had better oral hygienic habits and an overall better oral health status. The results show that dentists, apart from applying their knowledge of oral health to their patients, also apply it to themselves.
