Abstract

Prisutstvo stranog tijela u orofacijalnoj regiji je stanje koje izaziva kod pacijenta neugodu svojim prisutstvom. Dijele se na strana tijela egzogenog i endogenog porijekla, te na septična i aseptična. U orofacijalnoj regiji mogu se naći u koštanom, mekom tkivu i sinusnim šupljinama kao posljedica traume ili terapijskog zahvata. U nekim slučajevima se dijagnoza stranog tijela može postaviti odmah, a ponekad zahtijeva anamnezu, klinički pregled i rendgenske snimke. Svaki slučaj pojedinačno zahtijeva dobru procjenu i ovisno o simptomima, određivanje optimalnog vremena za kiruršku intervenciju. Svako nekritično odlaganje ili zanemarivanje zbrinjavanja pacijenta presudno je za daljnji razvoj kliničke slike i komplikacija. Primarnom obradom i eventualnim odstranjenjem stranog tijela treba se pokušati postići maksimum od onog što je moguće i izbjeći eventualne daljnje komplikacije. Prognoza ovisi o težini i složenosti povrede. Da bi nakon konačne obrade pacijenta na pacijetu ostale minimalne ili nikakve posljedice, često je
multidisciplinaran pristup svrsishodno rješenje.

Abstract (english)

The presence of a foreign body in the orofacial region is a condition that causes discomfort. They are divided as foreign bodies of exogenous and endogenous origin, as well as septic and aseptic. In the orofacial region they can be located in the bone, soft tissue and sinus as a result of trauma or therapeutic treatment. In some cases the diagnosis of a foreign body can be determined immediately, and it demands anamnesis, clinical examination and x-ray imaging. Each case demands good evaluation and, dependent on the symptoms, the determination of optimal time for surgical intervention. Every uncritical delay or neglecting of the patient's care is crucial for the further development of the clinical picture and complications. The primary treatment and the potential removal of a foreign body have to achieve the maximum efficiency and avoid potential
complications. The prognosis depends on severity and compexity. So that after the final treatment of the patient, minimal or no consequences would remain, multidisciplinary approach is often an appropriate solution.
