Abstract

Plazma je djelomično ionizirani plin graĎen od iona, slobodnih elektrona, radikala, neutralnih i pobuĎenih atoma i molekula te ostalih čestica. Prema svojim karakteristikama smatra se četvrtim agregatnim stanjem. Nastaje dovoĎenjem energije u obliku topline, električne energije ili elektromagnetskog zračenja plinu ili smjesi plinova. Zbog povećanja energije dolazi do ubrzanog gibanja elektrona i ostalih čestica u plinu te njihovog meĎusobnog sudaranja, posljedično s pokretanjem različitih procesa karakterističnih za plazma polje. U biomedicinske svrhe koristi se hladna atmosferska plazma nastala u uvjetima standardnog atmosferskog tlaka bez znatnog povišenja temperature. Plazma terapija pokazuje dobre rezultate u liječenju različitih bolesti usne šupljine.

Abstract (english)

Plasma is partially ionized gas which consists of ions, free electrons, radicals, neutral and excited atoms and molecules, as well as other particles. Due to its characteristics, it is considered to be the fourth state of matter. Plasma can be created by providing thermal energy, electric energy or electromagnetic radiation to gas or mixture of gases. This increase of energy causes electrons and other species within the gas to move faster and to collide with each other, thus initiating various processes characteristic for a plasma field. Cold atmospheric plasma, which is produced at standard atmospheric pressure without increase of temperature, is used for biomedical purposes. Plasma therapy has shown good results in treatment of various oral diseases.
