Abstract

Antiaging medicina je grana medicine koja se bavi fenomenima vezanim uz starenje organizma i mjerama usporavanja tog procesa. Zbog napretka razvoja antiaging tretmana i njihove pristupačnosti, povećala se potražnja za tretmanima ublažavanja bora lica i povećanje čvrstoće i volumena kože. Neki od najčešćih antiaging tretmana koji se danas primjenjuju, pa tako i u stomatološkim ordinacijama su hijaluronski fileri, microneedling, kemijski pilinzi i botulinum toksin i plazma bogata trombocitima (PRP). Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je saznati koliko su studenti dentalne medicine informirani o postupcima i komplikacijama antiaging tretmana te koliko su zainteresirani i motivirani za rad i edukaciju u navedenom području. Istraživanje je provedeno na Stomatološkom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Zagrebu, a uključen je 177 ispitanik. Ispitanici su podijeljeni u dvije skupine. Prvu skupinu čine studenti prve i druge godine studija, a drugu skupinu čine studenti pete i šeste godine studija. U prvom dijelu pitanja se odnose na godinu studiranja, samoocjenjivanje znanja anatomije i dosadašnju edukaciju o antiaging tretmanima. U drugom dijelu pitanja se odnose na njihovo znanje o antiaging tretmanima. U trećem dijelu pitanja se odnose na njihovo mišljenje o antiaging tretmanima i primjenu u stomatološkim ordinacijama. Postoje razlike između rezultata studenata nižih i viših godina. Može se zaključiti da studenti nižih godina još nisu stekli dovoljno informacija, zato su se teže opredijelili je li potrebna dodatna edukacija na fakultetu i hoće li biti kvalificirani za primjenu postupaka pomlađivanja. Studenti viših godina prepoznali su veću potrebu za dodatnim znanjima i vještinama u ovom području. Među studentima dentalne medicine postoji velik interes za primjenu antiaging tretmana i želja po dodatnoj edukaciji.

Abstract (english)

Anti-aging medicine in general deals with various phenomena linked to aging of the human body and specifically aims at slowing this process down. Recent advances in anti-aging treatments and their accessibility brought about an increase in demand for both face-wrinkle reduction and improved skin firmness and volume. Some of the most widespread anti-aging treatments in general (also applied in dental practice), are the applications of hyaluronic acid fillers, botulinum toxin and chemical peelings, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) provide the framework of the present survey, which aims to show to what extent the current students of dental medicine are aware of anti-aging treatments. The survey has been carried out at the Dental Medicine Faculty of the University of Zagreb among 177 interviewees; it is an attempt to assess the level of familiarity with treatments as well as their possible complications. The interviewees have been divided into two groups: Group 1 consists of 1st and 2nd year students, and Group 2 consists of 5th and 6th year students. The first part of the survey provides a background of each interviewee: year of study, self-assessed level of anatomy knowledge, and previous education about anti-aging treatments. The second part deals with the interviewees' knowledge of anti-aging treatments, and the third part provides insight into the interviewees’ attitude towards the application of anti-aging treatments in dental practice. The survey has found that Group 1 still lacks sufficient information so as to form an opinion on whether they would require additional education at the faculty and whether they will be sufficiently qualified to perform anti-aging treatments. Group 2 has on the other hand realized they would need additional training and skills in the field. Overall, the survey finds that students of dental medicine are very interested in the application of anti-aging treatments and also strive for more education in the field.
