Abstract

Profilaktička terapija indicirana je u medicinski kompromitiranih pacijenata koji su skloniji razvoju komplikacija pri stomatološkim zahvatima. Profilaksu provodimo antibioticima, od kojih je amoksicilin na prvom mjestu. Međutim, ne koristi se isključivo amoksicilin, već postoji cijela grupa antibiotika indicirana kod profilakse ovisno o uvjetima, tj. o stanju pacijenta (alergičan na penicilin, ne može primiti lijek peroralno itd.). Također, neće svaki kompromitirani pacijent primiti profilaksu, već će to biti oni pacijenti čije je zdravstveno stanje jedna od indikacija za profilaksu. Postoji niz indikacija koje nam govore koji su to pacijenti s najvišim rizikom od obolijevanja infektivnim endokarditisom, infekcijom koja zahvaća endokard srca te može dovesti do teških i za život opasnih komplikacija. U ovom radu objasnit će se pojam infektivnog endokarditisa, opisati vrste antibiotika koje koristimo u profilaksi te nabrojiti stanja i bolesti koje pripadaju pod indikaciju profilakse.

Abstract (english)

Prophylactic therapy is indicated in medically compromised patients who run a greater risk of developing complications during dental procedures. During the prophylaxis, antibiotics are administered, among which amoxicillin is the primary agent of choice. However, amoxicillin is not the only one, there is a whole group of antibiotics indicated depending on the case (the patient is allergic to penicillin, cannot take the drug orally etc.). Furthermore, not all of the compromised patiens will get the prophylactic treatment, but only those who have medical conditions that are indications for the treatment. There is a series of indications that reveal which patients run a greater risk of getting infective endocarditis, an infection affecting the endocardium of the heart that can lead to severe and life- threatening complications. This thesis aims to explain the condition of infective endocarditis and to describe the types of prophylactic antiobiotics administered as well as medical conditions that are indications for prophylaxis.
