Abstract

Ortodoncija je dinamična klinička specijalistička grana koja neprestano razvija svoje terapeutske mogućnosti i postupke. Počeci ortognatske kirurgije sežu u 19. stoljeće, a posljednjih nekoliko desetljeća intenzivirana suradnja između ortodonta i maksilofacijalnih kirurga rezultira boljom i stabilnijom terapijom. Ortognatska kirurgija je terapija izbora za pacijente s dentoskeletalnim diskrepancama kod kojih nije moguće problem riješiti ortodontski, modifikacijom rasta ili kamuflažom. Napredak... More postupaka mobilizacije i rigidne fiksacije koštanih ulomaka posljednjih nekoliko godina omogućio je uspješne terapeutske zahvate u rješavanju problema dentoskeletalnih diskrepanci. Dobra interdisciplinarna koordinacija je od velike važnosti, a vodi zadovoljavajućem i očekivanom rezultatu. Terapiju odabire isključivo pacijent sam. Da bi pomogli pacijentu odabrati koju od ponuđenih vrsta terapije želi, važan je kvalitetan prvi pristup pacijentu, dobra suradnjom s pacijentom i vizualni prikaz detaljno razrađenog plana terapije. Iako su u toku terapije moguće brojne komplikacije i sama terapija od pacijenta zahtjeva puno odricanja i strpljivost, zauzvrat osigurava točnost i preciznost u ispravljanju anomalije lica koja ima velik utjecaj na psihičku i socijalnu dobrobit pacijenta. Nakon zahvata i postoperativne ortodontske faze u prvoj godini ključna je kooperativnost i dosljednost pacijenta u nošenju retainera da bi se dobiveni rezultat održao stabilnim te kako bi se spriječili recidivi. Abstract (english)

Orthodontics is a dynamic clinical dental specialty which continuously develops its therapeutic abilities and procedures. The beginnings of orthognathic surgery date back to 19th century and in the last few decades intensive cooperation between orthodontists and maxillofacial surgeons results with better and more stabile treatment. Orthognathic surgery is a treatment of choice for patients with dentoskeletal abnormalities where it is not possible to solve the problem with orthodontic... The advance of mobilisation and rigid internal fixation of skeletal segments in the last few years has enabled successful therapeutic procedures that solve the problem of dentoskeletal discrepancy. Good interdisciplinary coordination is of great significance that lids to gratifying and expected result. The treatment is chosen exclusively and only by the patient. To help the patient choose the right treatment it is important to have a good first contact, cooperation with the patient and a visual exposition of detailed therapy plan. Despite the fact that during the treatment numerous complications are possible and the treatment itself demands a lot of renunciation and patience of patient in return it gives accuracy and precision in correction of face anomaly that has great importance for psychical and social well-being of the patient. After the procedure and post orthodontic phase in the first year the cooperativity and consistency of the patient in use of retainer is very important so the result would remain stable and recidivism would be prevented.
