Abstract

Komunikacijske i informacijske tehnologije u stomatologiji ubrzano se razvijaju. Njihova primjena očituje se kroz tri kategorije računalnih sustava: administracijskih, kliničkih i sustava web tehnologije. Računalna tehnologija koristi se i u znanstveno-istraživačkom i nastavnom radu u stomatologiji. Dok administrativni sustavi predstavljaju osnovnu uporabu računala u stomatologiji, u novije vrijeme bilježi se porast primjene u kliničkoj praksi, a stomatolozi sve češće u svom radu koriste i internet. U kliničku stomatologiju uvedene su brojne korisne računalne inovacije poput računalnog vođenja zubnih kartona pacijenata, radioviziografije, digitalne fotografije, računalnih sustava za pomoć pri kliničkom odlučivanju i telestomatologije. Iako je za sada postotak stomatologa koji koristi računalo u svakodnevnom radu još uvijek nizak, a računalni sustavi koji se koriste u praksi i administraciji imaju određene manjkavosti, ti nedostaci umanjuju se novim razvojnim istraživanjima u području dentalne informatike.

Abstract (english)

Communication and information technologies (CIT) for dental practice continue to develop rapidly. CIT are classified into three categories of applications: administrative, clinical and Internet-based. Dentists also use computers in scientific research and for educational purposes. While administrative applications have always been the primary uses for computers in dental practice, clinical uses are increasing. In addition, many dentists have been adopting the use of the Internet rapidly. Clinical dentistry has seen a slew of informatics and CIT innovations such as computerized charting, digital radiology, digital dental photography, clinical decision-support systems and teledentistry. Yet the proportion of general dentists using computers at chairside is still low, and the existing applications should be more useful and usable in the clinical environment. However, many new technologies, tools and solutions have become available for clinical dental practice, research and education and some of the fundamental problems remain to be addressed with informatics research.
