Abstract

Cilj ovog istraživanja bilo je ustanoviti moguću povezanost između sindroma pečenja usta i kserostomije. U 43 bolesnika sa sindromom pečenja usta i kserostomijom starosti 35 – 83, u prosjeku 63 godine, kao i u 20 ispitanika kontrolne skupine sa sindromom pečenja usta, koja je odgovarala po dobi i spolu, određena je količina sline izbacivanjem u mjernu epruvetu tijekom 5 minuta. Statistički znakovita razlika je dobivena testiranjem Studentovim t – testom (p<0,001) s obzirom na količinu izlučene sline. Možemo zaključiti da su simptomi sindroma pečenja usta praćeni s kserostomijom.

Abstract (english)

The goal of this study was to evaluate connection between burning mouth syndrome and xserostomia, the hypothesis that has already been investigated in literature with contradictory results. In 43 patients with burning mouth syndrome and
xerostomia aged 35-83, in average 63 years, and also in 20 patients with burning mouth syndrome, age and sex matched, saliva was collected by simple method of spiting into calibrated tubes (0,1 ml) during 5 minutes. Statistical analysis was
performed by use of Student t-test. Significant difference between patients and control group was found p<0, 001. We can conclude that the symptoms of burning mouth syndrome are accompanied with xserostomia.
