Abstract

Parodontologija je specijalistička grana dentalne medicine koja proučava potporni aparat zuba koji čine alveolarna kost, parodontni ligament, cement kao dio zuba, te zubno meso, odnosno gingiva. Metode liječenja u parodontologiji usko su povezane, a dijelimo ih na medikamentne, nekirurške i kirurške. Parodontna kirurgija bavi se operativnim zahvatima na svim komponentama parodonta, a same kirurške tehnike možemo podijeliti na mukogingivne, regenerativne i resektivne. Uz pravilnu indikaciju, resektivna parodontna kirurgija pokazala se iznimno sigurnom i uspješnom etiološkom, sanacijskom i preventivnom metodom liječenja parodontitisom zahvaćene kosti i gingive. Glavni princip na kojem se temelji resektivna parodontna kirurgija jest uklanjanje parodontitisom promijenjene gingive i kosti. Prve resektivne parodontnokirurške tehnike i ideje pojavile su se još u 19. stoljeću, te se neki postulati usvojeni prije jednog stoljeća, pa čak i više, moraju poštovati i danas kako bismo postigli veću uspješnost samog resektivnog zahvata.

Abstract (english)

Periodontology is a specialist branch of dental medicine studying the supporting structures of teeth that consists of alveolar bone, periodontal ligament, cementum as part of the tooth, and gums, i.e. gingiva. The treatment methods in periodontology are closely interconnected, and divided into medication-assisted, non-surgical, and surgical. Periodontal surgery includes surgical procedures on all components of the periodontium, whilst surgical techniques may be divided into mucogingival, regenerative, and resective. Provided a correct indication, resective periodontal surgery has proven to be an exceptionally safe and successful etiological, recovery and prevention treatment of the bone and gingiva affected by periodontitis. The main principle resective periodontal surgery is based on is the elimination of the gingiva and bone affected by periodontitis. The earliest mention of resective periodontal surgical techniques and ideas occurred as early as in the 19th century. Thus, some of the postulates adopted a century or even longer ago ought to continue to be respected in order to achieve an enhanced successfulness of the resective procedures.
