Abstract

Fiksnoprotetska terapija djece i adolescenata posebna je disciplina fiksne protetike koja se bavi restauracijom izgubljenih ili znatno oštećenih zuba fiksnim nadomjescima poput krunica, djelomičnih krunica, nadogradnji i adhezivnih odnosno privjesnih mostova. Različiti etiološki čimbenici, poput zubnog karijesa, traume, urođenog nedostatka zuba i genetskih stanja pridonose potrebi za fiksnoprotetskom terapijom u ovoj dobnoj skupini. Cilj svih fiksnoprotetskih postupaka je vratiti funkciju zuba, potaknuti pravilan rast i razvoj kraniofacijalnog kompleksa te unaprijediti samopouzdanje i dobrobit mladih pacijenata. Zbog nezavršenog rasta i razvoja te anatomskih, fizioloških i morfoloških posebnosti zuba, kao i sveukupnog orofacijalnog kompleksa djece i adolescenata, fiksnoprotetska terapija ove dobi ima određene posebnosti u usporedbi s fiksnoprotetskom terapijom u odraslih.

Abstract (english)

Fixed prosthodontic therapy in children and adolescents is a special discipline of fixed prosthodontics that deals with the restoration of missing or significantly damaged teeth using fixed appliances such as crowns, partial crowns, extensions and adhesive or suspension bridges. Various etiological factors, such as dental caries, trauma, congenital lack of teeth and genetic conditions, contribute to the need of fixed prosthodontic procedures in this age group. All fixed prosthodontic procedures aim to restore tooth function, encourage proper growth and development of the craniofacial complex, and improve the self-esteem and well-being of young patients. Due to the unfinished growth and development and the anatomical, physiological and morphological peculiarities of the teeth, as well as the overall orofacial complex of children and adolescents, fixed prosthodontic therapy at this age has certain peculiarities compared to fixed prosthodontic therapy in adults.
