Abstract

Parodontne bolesti su bolesti pričvrsnog aparata zuba najčešće uzrokovane infekcijom
bakterija usne šupljine, no mogu imati i druge uzroke. Danas oko 50% populacije boluje od
parodontitisa čiji je teži oblik šesta najčešća bolest na svijetu. Poznato je kako parodontne
bolesti mogu utjecati na pojavnost ostalih stanja u organizmu, a čini se da se to odnosi i na
upalne bolesti kože. Radi se o bolestima u čijoj je patogenezi upala, a etiologija može biti
različita – infektivna, autoimuna, neoplastična, traumatska ili alergijska. U ovu su analizu
uključeni sistemski eritemski lupus, psorijaza, reumatski artritis, pemphigus vulgaris,
pemfigoid, sistemska skleroza, bulozna epidermoliza te atopijske bolesti. Čini se da
parodontne bolesti utječu na nastanak i napredovanje upalnih bolesti kože. S druge strane,
prema nekim istraživanjima, i upalne bolesti kože mogu pogoršati stanje parodontitisa, koji je
kronična bolest, te umanjiti uspjeh oralne higijene i parodontološke terapije u njegovoj
kontroli. Predlagani su različiti mehanizmi kojima ove dvije skupine bolesti mogu međusobno
utjecati jedna na drugu, bilo u nastanku ili u napredovanju. Dobra i dosljedna oralna higijena
vodi boljem općem zdravlju organizma. Ako se utvrdi povezanost parodontitisa i određenih
upalnih bolesti kože, dodatna briga oko oralnog zdravlja i odgovarajuća parodontološka
terapija mogli bi biti od koristi ovim pacijentima, kojima stanja od kojih boluju mogu zadavati
velike poteškoće. Premda postoje studije o ovoj temi, još ih je uvijek malo, a dobiveni
rezultati se međusobno razlikuju. Potrebna su daljnja istraživanja o povezanosti ovih bolesti
kako bi se donijeli valjani zaključci.

Abstract (english)

Periodontal diseases are diseases of the attachment apparatus of the teeth most often caused
by infection with bacteria of the oral cavity, but they can have other causes too. Today, about
50% of the population suffers from periodontitis, and its severe form is the sixth most
common disease in the world. It is known that they can affect the occurrence of other
conditions in the body, and it seems that this also applies to inflammatory skin diseases. These
are diseases with inflammation as their pathogenesis and their etiology can be different -
infectious, autoimmune, neoplastic, traumatic, allergic. Systemic lupus erythematosus,
psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, pemphigus vulgaris, pemphigoid, systemic sclerosis, bullous
epidermolysis and atopic diseases were included in this analysis. Periodontal disease appears
to affect the onset and progression of inflammatory skin diseases. On the other hand,
according to some research, inflammatory skin diseases can worsen the condition of
periodontitis, which is a chronic disease, and reduce the success of oral hygiene and
periodontal therapy in its control. Different mechanisms have been proposed by which these
two groups of diseases can interact with each other, either in condition or progression. Good
and consistent oral hygiene leads to better general health of the organism. If the association
between periodontitis and certain inflammatory skin diseases is established, additional oral
health care and appropriate periodontal therapy could be beneficial to these patients whom the
condition they are suffering from can cause great difficulties. Although there are studies on
this topic, there are still few ones, and the results obtained differ from each other. Further
research on the association of these diseases is needed to draw valid conclusions.
