Abstract

Hitna stanja, iako rijetko, događaju se u ordinaciji dentalne medicine. Najčešća hitna stanja s kojima se doktor dentalne medicine može susresti su: vazovagalna sinkopa, ortostatska hipotenzija, hipoglikemija, angina pektoris, epileptični napadaj, astmatični napadaj te hiperventilacija. Važno je prije svakog početka rada uzeti detaljnu medicinsku anamnezu te saznati sve o pacijentovim prijašnjim i sadašnjim bolestima. Dobra anamneza, koja uključuje sadašnje bolesti i lijekove koje pacijent uzima, omogućit će doktoru dentalne medicine prepoznavanje rizičnih pacijenata koji zahtijevaju posebne mjere opreza tijekom stomatološkog liječenja.
Za doktora dentalne medicine važno je poznavati kliničku sliku pojedinih hitnih stanja te znati na koji način ih liječiti.

Abstract (english)

Emergencies, although rarely, occur in the dental office. The most common emergencies that a dentist may encounter are: vasovagal syncope, orthostatic hypotension, hypoglycemia, angina pectoris, epileptic seizure, asthma attack, and hyperventilation. It is important to take a detailed medical history before each treatment and find out all about the patient's past and present illnesses. A good medical history, which includes current illnesses and medications the patient is taking, will allow the dentist to identify at-risk patients who require special precautions during the dental treatment. It is important for a dentist to understand the clinical features of certain emergencies and to know how to react to them.
